can anyone tell me what is the best clutch to get for a magna . has anyone tried a clutch from highway clutch & brake they are supposed to be 25% heavier than standard & they are the cheapest I've found so far ($470) but are they any good or not.

havnt heard of the brand before but $470 is extreamly cheap for a clutch let alone 25% heavier....i just paid $1400 for a standard replacment clutch fitted..it was PBR clutch industries.

1.4k for a standard clutch change... how much was the clutch excluding labour?

Check the prices on eBay, MitsuFix and Rockauto.com - they aren't cheap. You need the full kit, pressure plate, clutch disc and throwout bearing.

about to go down this path and change my gearbox to a 3.5l box (no more imput shaft noise mal he he) i was wondering what to expect to pay for flywheel machining and its it worth having it lightened to complement other mods

Most after market clutches are heavier than standard like PBR etc. $470 seems like an average price for a stock replacement clutch.

the price on the clutch has me a bit worried because you usually only get what you pay for & this is going to be the third clutch to be fitted to the car . The one that is on the way out is from PBR.

the flywheel is already light enough as is .I've already broken one in half, I'm lucky it has a flex plate bolted to it otherwise it would have flown out of the engine

The current clutch in my Ralliart is an Xtreme HD or something similar, it was around $800 and is still very light, but is holding up fairly well.
