Got a new exhaust fitted last week - pacies, metal core cat, redback pipes & straight-thru muffler. I drove about 1km and it was running very rough, then the engine cut out & was blowing a lot of smoke from the muffler. I find there's petrol (in liquid form) coming through the exhaust and dripping out onto the road through the flex pipe at the rear of the extractors :eek2:. The car's been towed and is back at the mechanics.
What's causing the un-burnt fuel to pump through the exhaust? Is it a misfire? What is this likely to be? Fuel regulator? The spark plug tube seals are due to be replaced as there is a bit of in the tubes - would this have any influence on the car breaking down at this time?
While it's in the shop I'll be getting the 200,000km service, including the timing belt, water pump, O2 sensor, tensioners , cam seal, tappet cover gaskets, tubs seals & spark plugs.
Any ideas and feedback is appreciated.
