This is probably a stupid question  , but you know when you disconnect the battery, then reconnect it, turn the car on and the trip display shows 'S' or 'W', then '3.5' or '3.0' in the autos?

Has anybody tried or would anyone know the affects if say you have a 3.5 Sedan but choose 3.0 Wagon or 3.0 Sedan?

Would choosing 3.0 make the auto more responsive to kick down because it thinks the engine has less torque?

Thanks!

you'd prolly end up wasting more fuel and running the car richer....

i'm pretty sure thats only for the trip computer... shouldn't change the fuel settings at all

Yeah i'm fairly sure it is only related to the trip computer settings and nothing to do with engine/transmission managment. Reason for the difference between the Sedan and Wagon is that they have different fuel tank sizes so the trip can calabrate itself for the particular size. As for 3 and 3.5l, i'm not sure. Fairly sure it wont make any difference to the running of your car, just the trip computer thats all.
