Hey guys,

So im thinking of changing my wiring loom from my wrecked TJII to my new TE Altera. Im wondering what i would need to do. Im talking about doing the whole loom front to back. The altera already has ABS and power windows as did the TJ so that shouldnt be an issue. My biggest concern would be the drivers side airbag.

Is there a way i could trick the ECU into thinking the airbag is ok? Or would i have to put the sensors ect in? I believe this is the only real difference between the two. If i have to put the sensors in would i come across any issues? As i have the wreck this means i also have the cluster and centre clock piece so not worried about that too much.

Cheers guys,

Sean

Are you using the ecu aswell ? I believe the ecu's have different plug configurations.

There are no SRS sensors, they are built-in to the SRS ECU except for side-airbag models. Places to look out for are fuel tank/rear ABS looms (Easiest way to access them is drop the fuel tank). The ECU does not care about the SRS, SRS has its own ECU.

With your TJ2 Exec looms, its honestly not worth it. Atleast get something with climate.

Not 100% sure but, you may also need to swap over the brake lines and ABS pump from the TJ, as your TE uses a different ABS system to your TJ. The TE has a separate ABS ecu is located passenger’s foot well and on the TJ its part of the ABS pump.

Cool cool..... So rather then changing the whole loom, if I wanted the loom for the tiptronic and cluster, would I need just the top loom and ecu? Failing wanting the tippy, just top loom for cluster?
