Alrighty, I've searched around but a lot of this has not really been covered... So, lets begin.
First of all, the following looms have been replaced:
1. Main Dash Harness (Lower)
2. Floor Loom + Crossover Loom + Boot Loom (Drivers)
3. Floor Loom + Boot Loom (Passengers)
4. Fuel pump loom (Fuel pump also replaced with TJ2 unit)
5. Drivers junction box
The car is a 2000 TH Exec, the donor was a TJ2 VR-X (Climate, TCL, Tippy). I will be keeping my factory BEM, keys, and immob.
My goal is to retrofit the following componants:
- Climate Control (So far all solenoids installed and plugged in, main loom swapped)
- Cruise Control (Brake switch installed, main loom replaced, cruise ECU install, vac pump installed, cruise TB installed)
- TJ2 VR-X ECU (This one is questionable, it plugged in - but is it possible to use without a loom swap? Car is manual converted from 4sp straight-shift AT, ecu is 5sp tippy AT). TCL will be disabled by flashing a TJ AWD rom on to the ECU.
- Fastglass (Fairly simple, I know what I'm doing here)
Now, lets get to the odd bits. I had my mate helping with the climate convert and we decided to connect the battery to see if we could get anything out of the climate control. When the battery was connected, the indicators and headlights were stuck on, boot release did not work (headlight stalk was installed and flashing high-beams worked).
The following componants were missing:
- Upper dash harness
- Dash
- Hazard Lights
- Cluster
- SRS System (TH system is incompatible with TJ2 looms)
I am kind of suspecting this is just an incompatibility with having the upper dash loom disconnected, however I would like to confirm.
So, my questions are:
- To use S2 VRX looms, does the front (fusebox) loom need to be replaced?
- To use the VRX ECU on a manual converted car, does the engine loom need to be replaced? The ECU plugs in just fine
- Is it normal for nothing to function without the upper loom connected? Is the headlight/indicator thing part of this?
- Do climate equiped Magna's have a computer under the fan box? My TH does, the TJ did not. I have a suspect gray plug near the fan box that I cannot identify, and will not plug in to the computer on the fan box.
- Do I need to swap the engine loom/front loom in order to do cruise control?
