Hi all, I've just got myself a Series II VRX and am in the process of doing up the sound system and I'm a bit stumped. Does anyone have any advice about where to mount the crossovers for my front door splits?
Any advice would be great

Cheers

if the tweeter is in the dash like my GT , mount the crossover in the kickpanel so you only have to run one wire into the door for the woofer, and one wire straight up to the tweeter..

that seemed logical for my install...

ok cheers mate, i'll give it a look in the morning.

Also one more quick question for ya: I have the integrated 6-stacker headunit and I've decided to replace it. I've had a look at the back of it and I've noticed there are 2 wiring harnesses attached, one rectangular one and one smaller square one. From looking at other posts I'm guessing the larger one has the constant power, ignition, speakers etc, but what is the smaller one connected to? I'm guessing it might be the steering controls or something?

Sorry if they're noob questions, I had a search for this stuff but can't really find what I'm looking for :/

I have seen someone install them right on their door for display and looks.

Ok so i checked that post with the headunit wiring. So basically if I just don't use that 10pin plug on my new headunit, the steering wheel controls won't work, and the colour screen will show aircon etc. but not the radio station and stuff? Is that right?

Thanks heaps for all the help

I must butt in and ask a question relating to the picture posted above. Why do some people go to all the trouble of installing a set of component speakers only to place the tweeters so close to the mid bass? Wouldn't a coax be better suited to that application?

yeah , the tweeter next to the woofer is a waste of time...
when you remove the stock unit , on the centre display it will constantly read - radio comm error.. i just leave mine on the date/clock screen..

there is a wiring diagram in the workshop manual which is online...just search the forum for it.. helps to get speaker wires if your using the stock wiring...
i only use the stock ACC wire to switch headunits on/off , and use a new cable from the battery for the power feed for headunit & amp , and direct cable to the body for the earth , and add another earth cable from the battery to the body..
the steering wheel controls have only 2 wires going to the headunit... each button you press gives a different resistance value to control a headunit..

Yes I do admit having tweeter so close to your low bass producer is absolute stupid, but the aim of the picture posted was just saying a idea of placing your crossover on display, thats all really I was aiming for.

okay yeah, thanks for posting pics either way :) Having AMC like a picture book makes reading so much easier. My brother has crossovers on the door, makes for interesting conversation with car audio noobs. "Dude thats sick how you have like little mini amps on the door".

I mounted mine in under the dash. I got some tweeter pods as well look 100% factory but sound great

Don't mount the crossover in the door.

There's a reason why the inner door skin has a plastic sleeve in it - the door cavity isn't water proof.
