im having a little trouble with my 1996 altera.

when stop e.g traffic lights roundabouts my car goes to stall.(its an auto so a little odd on its own just there ) the only way to stop it is to release the brake and roll a little forward, and when changing up from first to second it now jerks i had a couple of friends look at but if its not a commondoor they have no idea. so any suggestions would be very much appreciated. plus its my first car so i want to try and hold on to it for as long as i can :pleasesign:

Sounds like the wave spring has broken.
Take your car to a decent auto transmission place for them to diagnose the problem.

the stalling problem is the same problem i had with my car, i replaced the idle positioning sensor, just go to the wreckers and get a complete throttle body, the other problem is i believe is related to your first, just disconnect the battery for a few mins and reset the gearbox ecu then go through this....... http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86349 ..........to relearn the shifting of the gearbox

A dodgy Throttle position sensor (TPS) can cause this also, but it's hard to say for certain without a mechanic checking it out.

Wave spring....is this just the fassionable word for the week now lol


Check the tps first. This is usually the issue
