G'day All,

I've got a major problem with the TP i own. If there are any TP enthusiasts you will know whereabouts I'm talking about.

I've got water flowing out of the engine block (underside) close to the belt that drives the water pump. I have checked each and ever other hose and they all seem fine. It looks like there is a massive hole which is missing a core plug (Maybe??????) I don't know.

I wanted to know if there are any of you guys out there who have had this issue and is there a plug which I have lost or something else supposed to be in that hole?

I've got some photos.

Cheers,
Girish

Yes, you have lost the welsh plug that fits in there, behind the pulley. Remove the belt and pulley, measure the size of the hole, and buy a new one - brass is best, they are cheap. Use some sealant and tap it in with a large socket that just fits inside the new welsh plug, and hammer it in. The edge of the welsh plug should be a mm or so below (inside) the hole for a good fit. Before belting it in though, check the opening for dirt, missing lumps of alloy and cracks. Any problems there means a head removal, maybe a new one.

PS look around the engine bay, the old welsh plug is probably sitting in there somewhere. If you find it and it is badly corroded, chances are other welsh plugs in the engine are on the way out too.

welsh plug if you undo the top pully 14mm bolt saves you moving the water pump witch can be hard to reseal if moved
