Hi all
I am about to put a new stereo in to my 380 and would like to use something other than philips-head screws to fix it in with. Does anyone know of a place that sells tamper-proof screws that will fit for a reasonable price?
I don't want to use non-reversible screws as I do intend to remove the deck at some point, so something with an "exotic" head like 5-point TORX or something else non-standard would be preferable.
Thanks.

Any so called security screw can be easily bypassed with a sharp drill bit and a portable drill - just drill the centre of the head until the head comes off the rest of the fastener. So in my opinion they are not worth the trouble, don't bother, just keep your car locked up.
Of course, any amateur thief who opens your car and sees those pesky security screws will get rather upset and do lots of damage - your stereo may still be there however.

I've found a place that sells "snake eye" screws - the type that just have two holes in the top. These would also be more difficult to drill out as there's nothing in the actual centre of the head to start the drill off.

As MadMex said if someone wants your stereo they will trash everything till they get it or wreck it so its no good anyway. Seen it a few times.
Is a hexagonal socket head (allen key) screw exotic enough?

I would recommend the Allen bolts, because they are excellent, nice looking, sturdy, and i dont know many people who carry around a set of Allen keys.
Otherwise mix it up a bit use 1 Allen bolt, one Phillips head screw, one flat head, and then Hex head bolt.
TBH I think anything other than the Allen Bolts are overkill, because if someone wants to get into your 380 a stereo wouldn't be top priority and if it was they will bend stuff until it comes out.

I ended up going with screws with a triangular-shaped recess. While they could still be drilled out, there's no other bit besides a triangular one that's going to be able to undo them.
