Hey guys,

Can this be replaced? Found out that the new TE i bought has a ding in the rail.... Yes another car with another chasis rail problem :/ So im going to see if my old TJ's one is ok and if so replace it.

So questions is, can it be removed?

Its part of the body work AFAIK. You could cut and weld, but you would need to be good with a welder, then you would need smoothing with a grinder and do the paint. Its fairly thin/weak metal, see if you can "massage" it back into shape first. Block of wood, hammer, that sort of thing. I had great success doing this (not on a Magna though) by putting a crow bar behind it, pivoted on the ground, and gently pulling it back into shape. (after removing the radiator of course)

Hmmmz.... Might try the hammer idea. Failing that use one of the clamps from work.... Would heating it up with a heatgun help?

It can be replaced, I recently replaced the one on my old TH after my son decided to rearrange the front end of the magna and rear end of a falcon, it's not an easy job and if it's done wrong nothing will line up, you need to drill out all the spot welds, worst part of the job by far, I got a front cut off Mal and again had to drill out all the spot welds, and you cant use a normal drill you will need a spot weld bit, the donor panal can be drilled with what ever you want but if you use a normal drill bit on the car it will drill all the way through the panel, a spot weld bit only drills out the weld.

then you need to spot weld the new panel in and make sure it all lines up and do a trial fit of your guards and bonnet latch, if everything lines up, weld it in place ( you need a mig welder for this as an ark welder will just melt the panel ) give it a clean and a coat of paint or two to stop rusting and put the car back together again.

Watch out for your wiring looms :) I almost forgot them when I got to cutting one day :(

So sounds like i might just see if a panel beater can knock it back in place. It isnt a serious dint, just a little bent... Freak i hate cars sometimes
