plus you would also want a decent box set up for your sub and want to set up your amps well too, how much room do you want to take up of the boot for everything to fit in?

What model deck, because with a budget of 2-3 k you will be bottle necking the performance if you dont have a decent source unit. I would be looking for a nice Eclipse unit that has T/A, X-overs and Parametric EQ, also 3 sets of preouts atleast 4 volts is a must.
Now do you want to build a 2 or a 3 way front stage? (Do you know the difference)
Do you want rear speakers (the reason i ask is because alot of people who compete in Sound Quality comps like myself do not run these for a reason: if you would like me to eleborate more on this just ask)
What do you want? Big Bass? Clean crisp music for a good daily driver?
What sort of music do you listen to?
Can you install all the gear yourself properly? (Custom sub boxes, soldering, heatshinking)

lol Agreed, but he is right about the unit, What he's trying to say is if you had a 2 grand set of home speakers and a Thousand dollar amp, you wouldnt connect a $80.00 CD Player, $200-300 on the source unit would be more appropriate.
The real trick in car audio, is spending a little in car audio and let people think you spent a whole lot more.
A good set for that unit and Kit, would be the Morel Component Splits , ($228) featured Here (http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/reviews/65_two_way_components_review_under_300/)
The trusty Response AB Class Amp 4x100, ($299) reknowned for 4 x 130 watts a channel, or 2 x 130 for the fronts and you pair the other two Amps (bridging) for 380 Watts @ 4 Ohms for a Woofer Channel.
And a great woofer and Box for that amp is a the JL audio 12" W3 in their High Output Wedge (http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_enclosures.php?menu=11&prod_id=470) Around $550.
Thats also about the biggest Amp you can run successfully off a 4 Ga wiring Kit. Allow for MDF and soundeading (500ish)
That would rock along really nicely for a around a grand in audio equipment. You could swap the JL for an MTX in a designed box for pure doof volume over quality though.
Note The depth of the Door driver (63mm will fit easy) and the width if the Huge JL box (820 Width Between The Rear Arches??????) would need to checked to ensure they fit.
If you get the audio Bug, run 0 Gauge Power cable first, save you doing in later.
Spend the time mounting the door speakers properly, you will better results.
The morel tweets (25mm) should fit in verada style tweeter Sail/pods. See the tweeter Position in my avatar.
Bith the woofer in box and Amp will offer you good resale value if you ever upgrade.

Basically, from here, you would decide wether to upgrade, either loudness or quality, going loud is bigger wiring, amps and speakers, in quality, you include a better deck as well, in the upgrade path.
But the above would be pretty good be a all rounder.

Welcome to AMC bud :)
I run the Pioneer speakers. 6.5 inch 2-way splits front and 2-way 6x9s in the back. Both are Basalt Fiber series. They are advertised in JB HiFi I think they sound good. Don't worry too much about how many "way" speakers they are. I spoke to a guy that REALLY knows speaker design and he told me that the best way is to get good-quality 2-way speakers. Any more then 2 channels and the sound is not accurately distributed and having more then 1 tweeter makes it a domain of cheap mass-produced speakers that nobody who wants a clear and accurate sound would buy them. The only crossover there is a capacitor.
When you are building a sound system and getting the amplifier as well as speakers look at RATED power (watts RMS) and NOT the peak power. I run Clarion APX-4241 4-channel amp and the combination with speakers is quiet ok. It has bass boost, High and Low pass filters with adjustable crossover (good if you want to use it for either speakers or the sub to "cut off" the undesired part of the sound spectrum), Old magnas are not very good with sound deadening so getting a really great sound system will not do you too much good. Especially if you run directional tires (noisy suckers lol).
I run 2x10inch W0 subs in a single enclosure with ports for each. Amp is Kenwood (Tanks Pyalda :D) KAC7204 2-channel amp. works well. Subs make a nice tight and accurate bass.
Head deck is a Pioneer DEC-4050UB. Not fancy but do a good job.
My whole system cost me under 2K installed but I installed the sub myself.
My advice, have the head unit installed by a professional, then the whole rest of the system you can do yourself. But thats because I don't know how to put in the head deck lol The rest looks harder then it actually is with the only thing that I can't yet do myself is attach a signal wire to the head deck. I think many guys here can tell you what to attach it too. Main thing is don't be afraid to start. Rear speakers are easiest. Front ones are a touch harder with the door trims needing to be removed. Still not that hard.
Buy all the components you need, have them all ready, get a Haynes manual on gen3 Magna (helps a lot trust me). That will allow you to drag all the wiring through the car all on your own.
Get any problems with getting the wiring through the car give me a PM.

Nice, its a same brand Class act, not to be scoffed at.
But, as you want different opinions. And its just my opinion.
The rear end sounds good, don't be afraid to throw power at that W7. At least 300WRMS in reserve, at least :) Whats the Box?
The front end sounds alright, but there is better out there for dough, and the Big D class amps are really good almost as good a AB amp, and the XD Amps aren't there Best.
AB class will sound better But the compactness of the D's is sweet. and the price is low.
And if you want a set of splits to keep up with bass. Look for the MTX Thunderaxes, good for 300 WRMS easy lol.
This's a good read (http://www.mobileelectronics.com.au/reviews/65_two_way_components_review_under_600/)
The fronts are competing against some pretty good sets at the retails they go for. Boston's, hertz, morel, crescendo, focal, I'd possibly rate the JL's in alpines class of sound and they try hard against this group.
But it does sound like you're going to have some fun.
Looking forward to updates.
Dont forget about the wiring harnesses that mate a magna loom to head deck, makes wiring neat, insulated and almost plug and play for about $30.00

Perhaps, you could tell us what you listen to.
Bass, how loud, just loud, extra loud, mega loud, wobble the seats the girls have their asses at the bustop loud lol or Tight, Really tight, usually these are a trade off. Sealed vs standard Ports. Or just blended.
What music are you into.
How much street cred you want from it.
Want to show it off, are you gonna comp it.
You wanna make yourself happy, or the judges.
If it's for yourself. Dont take the MEASQ comps too seriously, they sit in the car with engine off, and listen to your sound at conversation levels, and really, if you're like me, and drop more that a grand into a car stereo, like, how often is that gonna happen except a another comp. The really good guys have two Tunes, one for everday listening, and one for judging. WTF
:ninja:And you'll be putting speakers on the floor before you know it.:ninja:
But their dedication and drive makes 'them(companys)' make us better speakers, so we need em.

That system will suit that music no worries (pretty much just that music though), The americans can do treble and bass very well, english french, denmark, great mids, and the germans traditionally very flat, and the japanese very bright.
As for the JL Box, use the design and size they recommend for a ported box in the instruction manual, slot ported and tuned length.
You might want to squash the design so its flatter against the rear seat so you can still get the tyre out.
And dont forget the magic rule, 'there is no replacement for displacement' you might consider the 12" W6, it'll probably move more air under the same amp.
Fooz and I ran my 13.5" W3 in the recommended ported box, with about 1200WRMS at it, all we could do was stand there and Gape, it was awesome, the neighbour, however had a different perspective. lol
Dont want to talk you down off the W7, consider the 12W7.

Kypreo93, I have been trying to contact you on ebay and email but you don’t reply. I purchased some headlights off you back on 26th July 2011 (3 weeks ago). I was wondering when you will get time to send them as you said you would send them 2 weeks ago. If you have gone cold on the sale just send back the $180 there’s no bad feeling. We just need to get our car back on the road as quick as we can and just need the some headlights. Gets a bit frustrating making 3 trips in the morning and 3 trips at night to get the kids to school one at a time in the work ute. Theres no pressure, I know circumstances change, I just need you to let me know whats going on please. Cheers
