Just wondering if anyone is starting to have issues with the TL/TW polycarbonate crazing on top where it would get the sun. I keep my car pretty clean and wax the lenses but all of a sudden I have what appears to be fine cracking on the top portion.

Has anyone tried using the restoring kits on the section or am I wasting my time as I think it looks like it's not just on the surface?

Anyone know what they're worth or whether Mitsubishi still carry these as spares withe the colour coded internals on the TW?

I had one of the headlights on my KL start to Craze / go yellow.

I used a product to bring them back - Turtle Wax Headlight Restoration Kit.

Mine was only lightly yellowing on the top of the R/H Headlight - but it brought it back up to brand new.

Mate here in Mackay, has a TL ES, and his R/H Headlight was MASSIVELY Yellow.. and crazed and generally.. crap... I have no idea how he was able to see any light output from it at night... anyhow - I used the same kit on his car and it bought them up fantastically - light output is now back to being whhite... instead of yellow.

Give the resto kit a shot - worked well on the two cars I tried it on, one was MUCH worse than the other, and its back to being useable again

Cheers thanks for that, I'll give it a shot. Mine are not yellowing yet and the lit area is fine but the tops are starting to craze. You just can't beat good old fashioned glass. A friend at work has a mazda 3 which is immalculately kept around the same age and hers are going too. They should make them with replaceable lenses as a I don't consider a headlight a consumable at 6 years old!

Headlight housings / lenses - should not be consumables at all! let alone after 6 years.

Those kits, also give you a wax to put over the freshly restored lense - essentially all the kit is, is a very fine polish, with some pads as well - I never used the pads on either car, but they help bring the really bad ones back apparently.

When I used to lurk on Fordmods forums, I remember reading about EF / EL owners having the yellowing issues on thier headlights - and you look around at a lot of those cars, and 90% of them, all have yellowed headlights :(
At least the TL / TW era magna, is not as bad as that.

There are companies doing this now too and they uv coat them as well

put some sunscreen on it and buff that in at the end, see if that helps prevent yellowing :-)

I've tried sunscreen...its not permanent enough...I think the solution is as Madmagna says, is to have them UV coated...I've yet to do mine...I only "plastic" polish them with plastic polish, Mcguires or Mothers, and thats good enough for a couple of months before I need to do them again...:(

My 2003 TL has the same crazing and early stages of yellowing on the tops of both lights. I'll give the resto kit a try. How long should the results last for?
