Hello again guys,
On Friday I was driving the car home from uni and I noticed the temp needle had moved to half way. The thing is, the car has always been on the bar before half, its never changed.

Another weird point is that when the car is idling at the lights etc. the temperature goes back to its normal levels, however once I take off and am moving, it will go up to half. Its usually the opposite way around if anything (heat up when idling, cool when driving). lol. Shes a funny car.

I appreciate any ideas you have, always get good help on here :) Cheers.

With such a minor movement i wouldn't bother looking into it unless it worries you.
Otherwise at your next service possibly get the mech to have a look for anything it could be.

as HaydenVRX said, nothing to worry about with such small movements, my TF does the same thing, now when it starts creaping to the 3/4 mark, then you should start thinking something is wrong

i get 1 maybe 2 bar movement upwards on mine too and it actually happens when i drive on an incline like a granny.
if i am at lights and drive normal it settles back down to halfway where it usually sits. Weird > as if its reading transmission temp instead of engine or is this related ?
i suspect a fan thermostat sensorr or something.

Just check coolant levels and look in the engine bay for any coolant splattering marks. If all is well, then all is well. :)

Yeah if i drive aggressive funny enough it doesnt go up as much. It goes down to normal at lights, then litrally as soon as i take off it flicks up to over half from normal, its a funny car, but I guess as long as it doesnt get too high its fine. I have a feeling its the thermostat, the fan is on and everything. The car has never done this before and the thermostat has never been replaced (had the car since new). But yes, I think you are right with the thermostat I agree, maybe with the cold whether it hasnt had to open as much or its jammed to an extent, but I bought one, wouldnt hurt to change it (preventative maintenance lol). Good luck with your car
