Got my TH serviced recently at 176000 so between book services. Car runs really well. Some smell of oil aafter each trip but no stains at all on the carport floor. Has been carefully driven and serviced since new. The following were reported by the mechanic:

Welch plug front of engine leaking coolant
Valve cover half moon seals leaking oil
Rear main seal stains of oil
Distributor leaking oil internally or external seal
Power steering pump leaking

The mechanic said these are quite common issues in magnas.

Would appreciate some thoughts on how serious these issues might be and what is worth fixing sooner rather than later. Will probably incorporate with the 180000 service. Are they big jobs that would require the engine being removed and if so what should also be done at the same time. Will wait til 200000 service for timing belt etc

the first thing i would do is that welch plug, and i would have done that the second i knew about it leaking, that puppy goes, its all over but the crying. the rest are just common oil leakes, fix them up as you go basicly.

Thanks. How much should I pay to do the welch plug. Does the engine need to come out? If so should I get all welch plugs done?

No the engine wont need to come out for any of this work, when you are having your major service done then get them to fix all the leaks at the same time as a lot of the parts needed to be removed to get to the leaks will need to be taken off to do the service. Just saves you having to do things twice.

How about you drop past for an inspection as for starters magna 6cyl engines don't have half moon seals

I would also be surprised if the ps pump is leaking as is not that common
