Hi guys, my Magna was in an accident and has been repaired. I've just noticed the windscreen washers aren't working & am trying to identify the problem. It was a front end accident so the washer reservoir, pump etc was all replaced. I think what they've done is connected it up incorrectly. There's water in the reservoir, you can hear the pump working, so don't think anything is broken. I'm not really sure how the thing is supposed to connect up though, it doesn't look quite right what they;ve done thouigh. There's no direct pipe from reservoir to pump which seems odd? Any tips/advice would be appreciated.

The pump pickup is direct from the tank. It fits through a rubber gasket/seal. That leaves just the 2 pin electrical connector and the delivery hose to be connected to the pump. I'd check the delivery lines and make sure they're connected and if so there may be a blockage in the jets. You could try disconnecting the hose from one of the connection joints and see if water pumps out when you operate the washer.
I had some panel work done and my washer stopped suddenly becaue the hose to the jets was not fitted properly and blew off.

Could be as simple as cutting compound or polish blocking the jets. check that first.

Thanks for the info. I'll take a look tonight. Not sure what they are but the hose goes from the reservoir to a round metal thing, about 2" in diameter and then onto the pump. All hoses are clear and I've checked the washer nozzles for blockages. Water isn't being drawn out of the hoses with the pump on.

(Thats not my engine by the way!)
Not sure what that is - red arrow. The hose from that follows all the way back to the pump.

Washer hose connects to the hoses attached to the underside of the bonnet at the driver's side - they obviously hooked it up wrong.

Sorry I don't follow. There are 3 hoses.
Hose 1 goes from the reservoir to some metal disk thing (near front of engine bay)
Hose 2 goes from reservoir to washers on bonnet
hose 3 goes from pump to metal disk thing (near back engine bay)

Well, hose 3 which is not labelled in your picture but you say goes to a metal disc will be the cruise control vacuum line. That black pump shown attached to the side is the vacuum pump. I can't make out hose 1 from tank which goes to a metal disc in the photo. I think if you have traction control that vac pump is used for that too and there should be 2 vacuum actuators mounted on the throttle body from memory. My wagon has TC and cruise and 2 water pumps since supply is needed to the rear washer.
If it was working before the accident and not now because of accident damage why don't you take it back or contact your insurer and tell them not everything is working?

Hi guys thanks for the help, got it sorted in the end. I think the connector to the pump may have been connected to the wrong pump. Its a wagon & has 2.

I was wondering if you had a wagon or not, so when you operated the front the water ran down the rear window ?

Good to hear it's fixed, my windscreen washers don't work just becasue of the tiny plastic connectors on the bonnet have cracked, annoying little things.
