I have had my magna for a few years now. Never had any real problems until yesturday. I drove 5 minutes down the road. stoped and turned the car off while at the post office. got back to the car and it would not restart. The engine turned over, no probs there, just didnt fire up. This hasnt happened before, and of course the roadside assit just turned the key and it started.
Drove the car home, parked it in the garage and turned the engine off. of course i tried to restart the car and it didnt want to play. Someone told me to try the next morning, and it did restart, just as it alway use to.
Whats going on? any suggestions ?

It's the Immobiliser man. The immobiliser unit needs replacing. You're in Adelaide I assume? I have an Inkling that Steve Knight in Lonsdale is able to replace them because he has a MUT-II. I know for a fact that Mal from Mits Fix on these forums can do it for 110 bucks. The immobiliser needs replacing and the keys and ECU need to be recoded to suit the immobiliser.
My car does the same thing. NOW! Biggest question which may or may not help me lots is. DID YOU HAVE THE HEATER TURNED ON? Every time my car does it, the Heater has been on. Good luck mate, I will be booking my car into Mal within the next few months when I can get over to Melbourne.
BTW, Mine is a TF 3.0 V6

If you search on these forums for Immobiliser trouble, you will find its a pretty common issue. I have a feeling it may be something to do with hot air being directed onto the Immobiliser unit or something like that. It would be awesome if it was a consistent problem so I could find out why it happens.

I dont see why you need to replace the whole immobiliser unit and such
Remove the ignition barrel and check the metal tabs on it to see if they are still making contact

Mine did this just last week. Started when it was cold than once heated up I'd have to sit for some time before it would start again. Fuel pump was failing & running itself dry & overheating and had to keep letting it sit to cool down. Replaced it with one from the wreckers, all good now
