Guys, I want to get a bigger Throttle body, current one is too small to handle the boost :eek2:
Thing is I want to keep my cruise control, any suggestions?
Don't suppose twin throttle bodies would be possible? Could retain cruise control by running 2x vac pumps, delete one TPS, one ISC?

i think ud be better of getting billet one & aftermarket cruise....besides that not much u can do
Can the factory TB be bored out at all?
What about other minor improvements to the intake? Could something like extrude honing the intake runners improve flow enough to meet your needs?
Is a 380 TB bigger and compatable?

I very doubt you could keep cruise control... As far as I've read up, its a very hard system to calibrate properly once the throttle body size has increased. Hence why alot of the people on this forum have gone for EZBoy's "High Flowed" throttle bodys and not a bigger setup.
How about you go with a billet throttle body from the states, and then wire up an aftermarket cruise control? It won't work as well as the factory cruise, but it'll still be cruise control...
The 380 TB is Drive-By-Wire, meaning there is no throttlebody.
What sort of gains do you think are expected from a bigger throttlebody?? How about Individual throttle bodies??
If you were to go or an aftermarket TB, use a Nissan Q45 throttle body. This is what TZA and Wookie were planning on. 90mm diameter and can be had fairly cheap.

There's still a throttlebody it's just electronically controlled rather than by a cable like in the Magna.

Yes mine is bored out with a 380 butterfly installed......its 68mm which is 3mm more than a 3.5.....i wouldnt try boring any bigger with the 3.5 cause theres not enough "meat" left for it......i imagine the OP would want something bigger though.

Zero, does your cruise control work????
I used a non-cruise TB for the job. Still have my "flowed" 1 with cruise in case i want it for interstate trips.

I'd like a 30M throttlebody to while you're at it Rob lol thanks!
What leads you to think the tb is too small for the boost? How much boost you running? I've got 5.5psi at the manifold, wouldn't have a clue if the tb is bottlenecking at all.

Thinking he is running or will be running a bit over 5.5psi

measured the throttle body on my 30M and its internal diameter is 68mm, i can check this weekend if other jdm models are the same. could be bored out larger

thanks guys, I'd be looking at something 90mm minimum I think.. I'm running 12psi at the charger but its probably less than 10 by the time its getting to the engine.

Have a look at the plenum and see how big that is, that will give you your max, but have a talk to a workshop about the flow volume of your charger at 12psi and the flow that 65mm can handle. If your loosing 2psi though the intercooler, that's about normal too, it's a restriction, you could always got a really good design ic first and then do the TB, it would be much cheaper

I've modded a Gen III 75mm throttle bodies to fit Magna's before, maybe check one of them out. Thats around a 33% increase in area I think that should get rid of the restriction.
Cheers Dave

Thanks mate, got a new plasmacooler its pretty good, and cools very well so won't be touching it, only 1psi drop which I can handle...
workshop say I should be looking at throttle body and plenum upgrade to get the most out of it, I just like my cruise control especially with the torque I have at 100km now.
