I am working on a friends KE verada and AS the title suggests after starting the car and letting it idle or taking it for a drive , after about 5 minutes the engine shuts off. If you leave it for a little it will restart and go again for another 5 minutes and stop again.I have done a diagnostic code check and it shows no faults.I have replaced plugs ,leads, distributor, fuel pump,o2 sensor, temp sensor, I am at a loss to what else it could be any suggestion greatly appreciated.9I have never come accross this before its got me stumped. On another note i don't know if its related but when you turn the key to on position not start even when the engine is cold the thermo fan comes on.

Has the battery been unplugged? Mine seems to do that, after ive had the battery unplugged, put it all back together, set the clock, let the idle speed come to normal to do the shift learning procedure, and for the next few days its like it slowly tries to idle slower and slower and stalls itself, then gradually gets better again.

No battery hasn't been disconnected recently. Its starts fine so im not thinking its the immobiliser or the CAS because these would stop it from starting all together wouldn't they.

Maybe try and pin point the "five on, five off" - does it die after five minutes of driving the same as if it were idling for five minutes? Lights on, or lights off? Cold or hot? I know it all sounds silly, but its little things like this that might make the picture clearer.

Check your fuses for good connections or if there are any dead or suspect fuses.

I'd have said temperature sensor, but if its been replaced its ruled out. There aren't two sensors? I had a car that had three... check the workshop manual. I'd have thought an immobiliser would just STOP the engine, no five on/five off?

Fuel regulator, or filter, or pump maybe? A dodgy connection electrically to the pump?

Is it a clean kill, or does it splutter and fart on its way to stopping?
