I reached a top speed of 110km/h with the limiter on.

For starters why would you want to do this, there is no track anywhere in australia where a std magna can reach its top speed
The limiter can easily be removed but is pointless given that in Vic your limit is 100kmh and on some freeways 110kmh, so if you want to I can set it to 100kmh so you can reach it every day lol
Secondly, please for all members understand that if ANYONE thinks of posting up in here their top speed, unless you can prove was on either a private road or track the consequence will be swift and harsh as this has been discussed many a time before

Just out of curiosity, what is the speed limiter set at on a TJ?

liking this comment a lot lol

220kmh
Don't try that on public roads if you value your life, licence and cleanliness of your underwear, kiddies! 110 KPH is fine by me . . . . . and it gets there damn quick! 5,000 rpm in second . . . 3 gears to play with in any overtaking move below 100 KPH on the highway!

220kmh
210kmh actually, except for the Ralliarts, which are 240kmh. At least those are the values in the ECUs, how closely they match actual speeds is another matter.
ecu re flash, for your race use. If you go to a speed above the limiter on a track, make sure you have tyres rated to go at that speed and your suspension and brakes are up to scratch.

I thought after many readings of ECUS, they all stated 220? From dean

i dont think TE's had speed limiters or all anyway. i wound mine up to 240 before letting off the accelerator. mind you the car wasnt moving just the wheels lmao. and before you say anything i'd made very sure it was secure before doing it as the last thing i needed was it to take off up the road falling off the stands lmao.

The JDM Diamantes are limited to about 190kph .

The only thing that bugs me about speedlimiters is the fact I paid for all of those numbers painted on my speedo. I don't care if I never use them, I just want them.
It's like buying a cheese burger and only being able to look at the cheese.

Thats a pretty bad analogy really.
Clarkson summed it up when he talked about some german cars being limited to 150mph. Though the power and gearing were capable of more, they are fitted with 150 mph suspension, Brakes, tyres and all sorts of other stuff an engineer is concerned about when setting a speed limiter.
A faster car needs better brakes, tyres, wheels, suspension, steering components. chassis rigidity, safety cells, aerodynamics - just to name a few.
IMO to even contemplate these speeds in a 2 star Ancap (poor) is insane, pure lunacy, considering the rating is based of collision with deformable barrier at a mere 64 km/hr.
If you want what you paid for.... you have exactly that, engineering standards that have limited your car to what it is now.

Yep I'm sure that is what Ford was thinking when they put a rev limiter (used to limit speed) on the GTHO Phase 3. From what I can recall from Ford when they speed limited the first "E" Series Falcon (the ED) they complained that they would only limit the cars so that owners didn't get drive line vibration and tyres remained within speed ratings for all models. I attend timed lap sprints at Phillip Island and find it frustrating that down the main straight the car is speed limited, if I could quickly re program to get rid of the speed limiter I would. Is flash over the only way? I have been told that the Magna ECU can accept a dual program is this so and would it be possible to switch.

To the OP,
How come you don't care about the Tacho? You payed for numbers till 9 thousand :P Limiter or not, I assume that most standard magnas would be struggling to make it to the end of the clock.

Reflashing is the best way, but it can also be done by doctoring the speed signal supplied to the ECU (which is how I believe the bloke who took a Magna to Germany got it up to something like 219kmh on an autobahn).
I have been told that the Magna ECU can accept a dual program is this so and would it be possible to switch.
As delivered, Magna ECUs have no support for multiple maps. The ECU code has some support for running multiple versions of some maps, but most other engine/car info (including the speed limiter) is restricted to a single value, table or map.
Of course there's nothing to stop you keeping two completely different ROMs (eg road & track) and flashing whichever you want to suit the purpose. There is a finite number of times the flash memory can be rewritten, but its at least a couple of hundred times.

I don't why people think its 220, it's meant to be 210 as says all the magazines and reviews i have saved from when the car came out.
I'm curious - is there anywhere in aus you can legally wind a car out that is long enough to reach the cars limits? I ask because I do not have a speed limiter... However there is no point even thinking about removing it if there is nowhere in the country it is possible.
I'd expect 250-260 to be top speed. Tyres are rated at 300, brakes and suspension upgraded.
But seriously. Why bother if you can't reach it? Hell it takes about 1.4pm to hit 200. Would need atleast 6km of straight and a couple km cooldown.

Probably the main straight at Phillip Island as long as you have the balls not to back off into turn 1 as it is mostly downhill.
