Hey guys has anyone changed there headunit in there 380. Becuase i dont like the 6 cd stacker and i rather have a DVD/GPS in there instead just wondering if anyone has done this and if so what problems they had. I know the dash is one part but is it still possible .

You can get the double din fascia from Mitsubishi or order a US Galant one from ebay (same as 380). The only problem you will have is a comm error on your dash display as the oem headunit is on the canbus system. I'm just about to put one in mine shortly.

Yeah mate, have a search around for the PAC-SWI modules. You just need to tap into the appropriate wiring at the headunit. I believe some of the new headunits have the interface built in.

Hey ive been looking around and its hard to beat the Clarion 501A but the price is a bit heavy. But i noticed that the US version the 501 is preety much exaclty the same except obviously the GPS Maps but i went to the webpage where you update the maps for the US model and you can buy Maps for Australia for that model for like $150 + $500 for the Clarion NX-501 comes in at $650 which is looking better than $2000 for the 501A.

Is this too good to be true besides the maps should i worry about anything else before i purchase this....

If the maps are the only difference it's probably a bargain. Only thing is if you buy it here you get three years warranty instead of none plus three years of maps. I'm about to go into buy mode & hunt down a good price, I'll let you know how I go if you like.

Yea Ive been looking at the specs and its all the same. Only other thing im worried about is will the radio tuner pick up Australian stations not that i listen to much radio. But yea let us know if you get a good price cause im having difficulty finding a place that sells this unit.

I've seen it at WOW their price was $1799 but could beat them down. I reckon $1400 should be achievable. Will start shopping around & let you know. Where abouts are you? Could try for a two off price?

i just bought a new Eclipse AVN726EA for 1499$ from an ebay store in queensland. think they have a demo model still on ebay... and it came with reversing camera too. lots of reputable headunits around online if you have a look stuff paying the 2000+ retail price...

Ive ended up going with the American model with reverse camera since it only cost me 600 bucks and i got a 2 year warranty also. And the australian maps will only cost 120 on top of that.

Ive got all the parts getting it installed next wednsday ill let you guys know how its goes.

Wondering how the install of the Clarion NX-501 went? Also what bits did you get and what web site did you buy from? Looking to do the same if it all goes well.
