Changing Struts - I did this recently and followed instructions found on the web (Martybugs!)

A quick word of advice - when compressing springs

1) Buy the good compressors ( 2 hooks on each end) - less likely to slip- see photo - they are the top ones. $40 bucks at Supercheap.

2) Treat the compressed spring carefully - there is enough stored energy to do some major damage

It all worked well for me. (koni reds)

I've got the set above those and while they do the job they won't do many of them.

When compressing the stock Magna (Pajero) springs you'll notice after a certain while there's so much stress on the compressors the thread starts to strip as you tighten them more.

Perfect for the average person that changes their struts or springs once in a blue moon but I wouldn't put my faith into them if I was constantly doing stock height springs.

Its a good idea to grease/oil the threads each time you use them....helps to make them last longer.

I agree with both posters.

Buy the best compressors you can get - the single hook ones are dangerous in my experience.

Oil or grease them as you use them to make it easier

You must change a few springs in your life time? Or do you lend yours out to others? I've probably used mine about 6-7 times now...and they still look new, except for scuff marks. Thread is fine.
