Hay all

My misses owns a 1997 verada 3.5l. Just had the auto serviced and fitted a transmition cooler. Before the service sometimes it would slip into 3rd gear. After the service it also did the same slip. The fluid is a nice red not dirty at all. I then called back the transmition place he reckons its the ecu and how its learned how someones driven. Cause then i noticed sometimes when i drive i will let my foot of the accelerator so it changes then back onto the accelerator when it hits the next gear i only ever usually do this for some reason from 2nd to 3rd gear. I tried doing this from 1st to 2nd gear and it kinda slipped like it did from 2nd to 3rd. I just wanted to ask if this is possible.?

Sounds like something from this thread below when resseting the transmtion use constant acceleration for the car to change from 2nd to 3rd and do it 5 times to make it learn.

"slip"? You mean a slow gear change? Mine does that too, it all depends on how much throttle you use. Its set up that way to reduce shift shock, you get a smooth gear change no matter what your throttle position is. I guess its part of the smart logic of the gearbox.

Occasionally I take my car out to a 110 KPH speed zone and accelerate from standstill, and use enough throttle to get the changes at about 3,500 rpm. Nice smooth but quick shifts. Slurring the changes around town doesn't worry me.

It flares into gear it will rev slightly like its in neutel then go into 3rd gear.

Mine used to do that..

Once I did the tranny fluid flush all seems to be sweet!

I reset the ecu using the instructions and all seems to have sorted it out!

That is actually called FLARE, not slip. Probably needs an oil change, or TPS adjustment.

Yeh oil is fresh. Did the ecu reset seems to be good so far.

did they use the right oil for tranny
i had this done and i found out they didnt use the right fluid they told me they did i changed my self and if fixed the problem
as we all know the fluid is alot more expensive than most just an idea id make sure what they put in it
