Hello Everyone :D

This is my very first post on the AMC forums!! I have been reading lots of posts and they are all very informative. I have a Magna TJ 02 Sports and I love it. I have had it for just over a year now and it still makes me smile every time I jump in for a spin. It is my first car and I saved up $6600 to buy her from a work mate at a pretty low 102,000 km.

I have been doing some visual upgrades over the past year and it is going well. Most of the outside is complete but just like many of you have been saying on here, once one job gets completed, there is always another one lurking around the corner!

Anyway, I bought a PU Leather seat cover kit for around $450 and the pattern is blue and black. I installed them a while ago and am now looking to match the interior door trims to the blue that is on my seats. I had an attempt last weekend and everything was going great, until the foam on the door trim started to peel off, leaving the trim to have some loose spots and looking very untidy.

I am wondering if any of you have ever changed your door trim and if so, how did you go about fitting the material to it?

Cheers Guys!

Frosty

You need a hard bristle brush to get rid of the residual foam left over from the original triming
once its clean (cleaner the better) use an aerosole contact adhesive and spray both the door trim and material, let the glue semi dry so it becomes tacky and affix material.

Okay well do you suggest getting rid of all the foam? If I get rid of all the foam do you suggest replacing the foam or just stick the material on the plastic of the door trim?

Thanks Altera :D

Get rid of as much foam as possible, it will hamper the effect of the glue, no need to replace the foam either, but that is upto you.

Don't bother with the hard bristle brush, this is effective for the roof lining but the door trims are a hard plastic backing, just get a tin of thinners are wipe over liberally with a rag, it will clean all old glue residue off and give you a perfect base for fresh glue/material to be applied.
