the central locking on my magna has been acting up for a while now when its locked it will flip back and forth and i have to press the button a couple of times before it will open and its the same when its open it will lock itself etc. now im just wondering if it could be getting jammed as it is a older car so maybe there is dust/dirt or if it is a problem with the computer chip someone plz help.

does this problem only happen when you use the remote, or does the problem happen when you use the key as well, could be something as simple as a sticky button on the remote, if not i remember an issue with the 93-98 falcons where when the interior of the car heated up, the central locking would do the same, it ended up being a recall to change the central locking module, saying that, it could be the same problem with the magna, not sure if the magna has a central locking module, I'm assuming they do, but its not a common problem from what i hear (don't want to hear, don't compare magnas with falcons, thats not what I'm doing here) I'm only offering possibilities

Has a similar problem on a KS Verada touring wagon.

Inside each lock actuator there is a quadrant that flips from side to side.
In the housing on each side there is a small rubber pad so the quadrant does not smash onto the outer housing.
One pad had disintegrated so the quadrant then over travelled and stopped triggering the associated microswitch.
This meant that it then just rapidly cycled the locking system from unlock to lock.

The difficult bit is working out which actuator is the culprit.
Start with the drivers door then the front passenger one.
I opened up the actuator and glued a piece of rubber in place of the pad.
This fixed the problem.

Hope that this helps.

sounds like your remote is dying and a good reset is open and close every door and include bonnet and boot , dont be to soft either shut them harder than you normally would , this has worked for me many times
