View Full Version : Verada GTV Sat Nav Issues

Hi all,

18 years old, work in IT, just bought myself a first car, a white 2002 Verada GTV with 130,000 k's and immaculate exterior/awesome interior. Problem is, playing around with the sat nav learning how to use it I've set the bloody security code on it. I misread it and thought setting the code would allow me to set my own (Just wanted to see how it works) but I'm now entirely locked out of the GPS, just displays "SAFE" on the screen.

Is this something I can do myself (A reset switch somewhere, a default code etc.) or is this going to be an expensive dealer thing? As well, the cradle for the Blaupunkt remote has come loose from the centre console. The wood grain centre console that it screws into appears to have had the threads worn away enough that the screws spin freely in it. Any way to deal with this or am I basically up for some glue? :P

And finally, the bit of thin black plastic below the shifter surround has bent so that when the car is in Drive, you can see a hole through the Tiptronic gate. It's an extremely minor cosmetic thing, I didn't notice until I got it home, but is it easy to pull the surround and bend this back or not worth bothering? Mechanically it is sound, all the electronics work, and it's just been serviced and every service was done by the previous owner. Four new tires as well. These listed are the only faults I have :)

Cheers!

1) In the manual you should have the security code for the Sat Nav.. Simply enter it in and you're on your way!

2) The little screw.. A little glue or silicon and you should be sweet!

3) You can get a new shifter console from another Verada or TH Sports onwards if I remember correctly..

Nice choice in car.. I've got the exact same one!

I have the manual but I can't find the code anywhere in it. I've looked! Where should I be looking?

I have both the GPS itself's operating instructions and the original Verada manual.

Mine was on a separate card. Maybe contact Bosch or Mitsubishi :/

Nah I don't have a seperate card :(

Alright I'll contact the dealer. Maybe the previous owner still has it? :P
See if I can try Bosch too. :(

Thanks guys for your quick help!

Update on this for anyone in the future who runs into the same problem.

E-mailed Bosch: Awaiting response.
Called dealer: Will look into it for me. I mentioned the previous owner could know it.
Called Mitsubishi: Unable to help, gave me a Blaupunkt Australia number who they think can.
Called Blaupunkt: After selecting support from the automated menu it just rang out for like 40 minutes until I gave up. No hold music ftl.

Also found on the net that there are some companies and forums who have decoders for these, so you provide the part number and serial number and they can provide the code for it. Forums do it for free, couple of places do it for like $5 so that's a last resort if nobody can help or the dealer wants some bullshit amount of money for it.

If you're going to a dealer.. Get him to remove the unit and update it while he's at it.. That way you get the newer firmware with a few little bug fixes.

Just need to upgrade maps!

Oh really? What does the newer firmware offer? That could be good! Rough idea of cost? I'm new to owning a car worth putting money into hah. Maps I've heard costs a shitload unfortunately, surprised there aren't ISO's available on the net to burn off with the maps on.

btw thanks for your awesome help so far. :D

Last time I spoke to a Blaupunkt dealer they said the firmware helped with a quicker GPS signal fix and also quicker loading time too.

Maps - Not Cheap
ISOs - Searched High and Low for them.. Cant find any.

The wood grain centre console that it screws into appears to have had the threads worn away enough that the screws spin freely in it.

I have a spare woodgrain console top from a GTV. I am sure it still has the remote cradle on it as well.

Let me know if you are interested...
