Heya guys,

Two more questions regarding my new Verada.

One, it has no cigarette lighter/aux power anywhere in it that I can see. The owners manual mentions the one on the dash which I don't have because the factory GPS occupies that space, or one in the coin compartment and there isn't one there either.

Did Verada GTV's not come with aux power? If not, any chance I can get this installed aftermarket somehow? Is it an easy type thing?

Second question, my head unit is either CD or tape. I'd love to keep the factory look but I want to be able to plug in my iPhone, either by USB or 3.5mm audio cable. I assume the former would be impossible but is there some way I can get 3.5mm into my stock head unit or, alternatively, is there another stock unit I could try to acquire that does have aux input? Pic below is my unit:

Aux power connector for a phone is in the central console. Under the centre lift out section just forward of the gear selector. 4 way white connector.

Nice, cheers mate. So it's just a matter of finding the cigarette lighter piece (Dunno technical name, the bit you plug your aux shit into), pulling the central console, plugging it into that white connector and putting it all back together again?

I read something about there being a replacement coin slot piece with a hole ready for aux power in it, anyone know anything about this? Would prefer the stock look.

Cigarette Lighter - $15 from Super Cheap

I fitted mine into the Centre Console Glovebox using that 4 pin plug.. It'll take you 20mins max.

What you need..

2 spade connectors
Some wiring
Electrical Tape
Soldering Iron & Solder
Drill
Spade Drill Bit

Spade into the 4 Pin Plug (Top Right is + and Top Left is -)
Run your cabling
Drill the hole
Fit and plug it in

DONE!

OR....

You can get the coin tray from some of the Verada's with the coin try and cigarette lighter in one, if you get the loom with it, its pretty self explanitory.

With regards to the audio side of things.. No Aux on that unit.

You could try and find a Eclipse Head Deck & Stacker from the Ralliart Magnas - They have RCA Aux In - RCA to 3.5mm Cable and you're done!

That coin tray is the route I wanna go. Want as factory a solution as possible. Also keen on finding the Eclipse if possible. Any places I can look, can these be ordered from Mitsi somehow, or am I gonna need to hit up wreckers and shit? Cheers.

Heh, will try asking Mitsi as a last resort.
E-mailed Mal already (Found he was wrecking a Verada with it shortly after my post) but he doesn't.
Will PM rodpolky, cheers for tip.

If you've got $3, I have the answer for your AUX connection
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150580325269

Cassette to 3.5mm audio adapter !!

p.s. might be worth it to spend a little more for a better quality unit? I bought one years ago to run a CD walkman in my car, probably still have it with the walkman. :)

You can buy a unit off ebay that connects inline with your aerial cable and has standard rca audio connections as an input.
It converts your ipod / iphone, mp3 player signal into an fm signal.
Just program the frequency as a preset on your tuner and you're away.
This the one I bought:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Scosche-FM-Audio-Modulator-FM-MOD01-Quality-Item-/180712938077?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a13549a5d#ht_1071wt_1139
All you nned is an rca to 3.5mm stereo cable and you are set.
Found it to be really good, sound quality is as good as the radio stations.

Haha no shit, when I clicked that link the item had 10 seconds left. What a weird timing.

Anyway not bad idea, but for $47, I don't think so. I've actually found a head unit I like though, Blaupunkt to match my GPS. Toronto 410BT, does look aftermarket but it at least looks stylish and slightly factory due to the GPS match appearance. And has a shit ton of features. Just gotta find out how much it is in Aus to sort out if I get it overseas or not.
