Is there a walkthrough for this available? Is it easy? I want to be able to get to the back of the GPS unit in my Verada GTV to read the serial number off it (Hopefully there is one :P)

Pull out you passengers seat, the main unit is under there.

Just a hint - Thats the serial number you'll probably want.. There's jack all on the back of the screen.

I pulled the whole centre console and GPS and as you said (Didn't see post until after I'd done it) there is nothing in the way of a serial...
...so I pulled the passenger seat and got the CD box off but it's inside a bracket I cannot figure out how to open. I can see like three stickers which could potentially have serials on them inside this box but I CANNOT get it open.

If I get it open it's gonna cost me like $6 to get my GPS back. If not... nfi. Helpppp >.<

Blaupunkt e-mailed back, surprisingly. They want my serial number and part number and for like $25 they'll give me the code. This is what they said about opening the damn thing:

"you have to remove the device with the demounting tools (release clips). Then you can take it out of the plastic frame. On the right side of the body you will find the serial number and the type number."

you can cut up a coat hanger to use as the keys. just bend it into a U shape with the shafts about 4 inch long the push from behind and it should slide out

I ended up using four screwdrivers and this, with a bit of trial and error, opened the thing. I have now gotten the serial number & part number and had it decoded so I should (Knock on wood) have the code for the GPS now, and didn't need to pay a cent. :D
Takes an hour with the car in ON for it to allow code input so we'll wait and see. Thanks though mate!

Yeah was a big pain in the ass, but it was either this or have a useless factory GPS because Mitsi can't help. If I didn't do this and went the less dodgy way, Blaupunkt can only help if I pay them $25, plus the cost of one of their "tools" and waiting for shipping only to give them the codes I've just gotten so they can run them through a calculator I found free on the internet :P

Just saved a bunch of money for a bit of hard work. I've got my security code now (Come onnn lucky 2880) so hopefully will find out this evening if it works. :D
