Evening all, without hijacking someone elses threads about buying or trans problems I need any model specific info you can spare. I searched but couldnt find anything online really either.
Anyone on here know of any problems I need to be looking for while out tomorrow(eek!). Looking at an 01 Solara 4spd and a 02 Sport autos. Both have good service history though Solara needs a timing belt.

Timing belt won't be cheap for the v6, if it's the full timing kit with tensioners looking at $700 alone.
the 5 speed tiptronic will give you alot more power and sportiness. As far as i know neither have significant problems except the gearboxes sometimes randomly break (wave spring issue) however second hand replacment auto boxes can usually be bought on this forum for only a few hundred $$ and then you just gotta pay for it to be installed.. another few hundred.
I say buy the one you like the best.

Well I can change my status to 02 TJ Sport owner. Picked up a nice silver one today after looking around Sydney and got a good deal on it with good warranty included. Has very good service history including fresh timing belt and water pump:) Gearbox seems to shift nice and smoothly in auto and "sportishly" in manual mode. Looking forward to working with this car!
