As the title suggests i just wanted to know i have purchased a secondhand VRX bodykit now the paint is totally RS its cracked and peeling off in chunks. Is it safe to use chemical strippers like you get from auto stores paint on or spray on to remove the old paint or should it only be sanded .Being a VRX kit the pieces are a rubber compound i don't want the chemicals to damage the pieces.Anyone know.

In simple terms, no, the stripper will not only damage the plastic but may also penetrate the plastic and make it impossible to get paint to stick to it again

Bumper Stripper - Thats what a few panel beaters use
Dot3 Brake Fluid - Dodgy.. Yes - Safe on Plastic.. Yes ... Did you know alot of your local p/beaters use this trick for bumpers..?
Paint it on and wipe away!

I'm getting a friend to paint it i'm just going to help him out by preping it . 1 piece the paint just peeled off in sheets it was easy the others the paint is sticking a bit better. It is all cracked and crazed so it needs to come right off back to bare kit. When i say prep it i mean just take it down to the bare plastic i will let him prime it etc.
