Well my Verada ke has been going very well and just when i decied to go for a 5 hr trip she pays up!

After going up the Gap when she came to a stop at a stop sign she could not idle..I restart the car and she works fine again....Her perfomance doesent seem as good as it should be....It has all new plugs, filters, blah blah .... Only got it done the other day before the trip...

Went to the mechincs and they replaced the TPS as my gears seem a bit funcky to.... She idles lowers then normal now aswell...had a scan done and came back A ok..only seems to do it when she had a heavy load on the motor up the gap...

The trottle body / speed control was all cleaned out aswell...

I am thinking maybe the IAC? but just trying to get ideas before i head back on sunday, dont want it to break down! any ideas would be great.

i was told my throttle cable is a bit streched? could this do it ?

Did the battery come off during the service? Mine all but stalls for a few days after the batterys been off till it sorts itself out, still don't know why.

If the battery has been off for a while the ecu takes a while to learn again, it's a bout 40 key starts before it's all good

it was only off for like 1 min..i thought it takes like 40 mins before it resets it self?

hey guys..

I was told by my mechanic that once the battery was pulled for any period of the time, even a few minutes, both the Engine ECU and Tranny ECU will reset..

Once the car is hooked back up to the battery and started, It's best to let it idle without any throttle at all during a period of about 10 mins, or till the engine hits the normal temp.. just below the centre line on the temp guage

As the engines warms, and the ECU get's it head round all the sensor data, it'll set up the idle mix settings, and more... and hence sets how smoothly it'll run once you're driving it, as it returning to idle when you take your foot of the Accelerator ie. when you pull up, slowed down for corner, coasting up to the light in N, etc.. my old series 2 Verada was a classic for a bad idle issues... mech's recommendation sorted it... and also occured when battery was starting to get too old for reliable starts.. ( bit dip in volts when cranking, cusing ECU's to loose the plot..

Hope this help in some way..

This sort of thing has come up a few times just recently - failing ignition coils have been the cause in a few instances.

Disconnecting the battery will reset the ECU regardless of how long the disconnection is for - the engine needs to be idled for at least 6 minutes after the engine reaches normal operating temperature for the ECU to recalibrate the idle fuel trims. From a cold start, idling the engine for at least 15 minutes will usually do the trick. During this period the ECU will also be recalibrating its settings for the ISC.

With an auto, the shift point relearning procedure (particularly with TH/KH and earlier) might be useful.

ive had this issue for about a month, finally decided to replace my ignition coil (replacing the base of the dissy) fixed my problem, also fixed my very rough idle. kinda miss my massage now :P. but this could be an issue as well. another thing the new coil fixed was a down surge at cruise, like cruising under 80ks. it was like it suddenly over fueled for a second then went to normal....all good now :)
