Hey Guys!

I put in my TJ Magna for a service today at Redcliffe's Northstar Service Centre (Mitsubishi) and they have quoted me over $900 for a simple service (the only additional work being done is a transmission flush). Does this seem a bit steep to you?

Basic service is usually $180 mark with oil and filter, trans flush $185 so I would get an explaination as to why a simple oil change and trans flush is so much

I will ask for a list of parts and labour when I go down to pick it up later on. It doesn't sound right to me.

After talking at length with the customer service manager regarding the price for this relatively simple service, he explained to me that he had to clean the throttle body and check the TPS due to my complaint of the car over-revving. After deliberating with him over other details, I managed to get the price down to $620. Goes to show that they will rip you a new a**hole if you let them. I am happy with the quality of the service though, everything works well and no issues so far.

Ive noticed alot of QLD dealers are much higher than Vic dealers but man that's crazy , from Berwick Mitsubishi its around $295 inc GST for a basic 120k service and safety check

It is pretty crazy. Tis' why I dread taking my magna to get serviced. QLD is a pretty expensive state to live in.

I paid $700 to get my timing belt, trans oil done, and a general service. So $900 what a joke haha. pays to shop around!

Even $620 is $300 too much

SO they have to blast some carb cleaner through the TB and check the TPS which takes about 5 mins or 15mins if they have to adjust it, what are these guys brain surgens charging $1500 an hour or something

Just another reason why Mits Service centres are not such popular places to go to.

Most of the dealers use Penrite, even at the proper RRP there is $45. Filter at dealer price $16, then rest is labour. They will charge you for washer fluid additive, oil disposal (they get oil taken away for free lol) and consumables (must be the hand cleaner for the apprentice who will most likely do your car)

No, you should be going back and asking for a partial refund or tell them youre going to take it higher. I am truly interested in seeing the cost breakdown on the invoice
