Today for some reason the rear passenger door would not close...It hits the stricker and just bounces back ... anybody have any ideas before i start pulling the door card off...
ps.can you get duct tape in white?

Something may have knocked the catcher in the door to make it think it's closed.. It's happened to me once previously. Have a look in the recess where the catcher is and see if it has moved into the "closed" position. If so just hook it with a screwdriver or similar & pull the outer door handle at the same time & it should reset to "open".
Other than that I can only assume something is where it shouldn't be!
Only time this has happened to me, it was because I didn't see the seat belt stuck in the way. :)

Had this happen the other day. Fixed mine by pulling the latch out of the door and found that there is a part of the latch that uses a rubber band or similar to pull it back into place and if that is snapped then it will just bounce back and won't latch at all. Easy to figure out and I just doubled over a rubber band and put it back in place and all is working perfect. Hope this helps. Would have taken 15 minutes if I knew straight away what to look for.

Where is the jaw part of the door latch, is it fully open, in the half way position or fully closed??
If the jaw is in the wrong position just use a screwdriver to push the jaw first to the fully closed position.
Then remove the screwdriver and then open the door handle.
If the jaw does not snap fully open then it is door card off time to look at what SSStagea has described just above.

You took your car to the wreckers because a door wouldn't close? A bit harsh!

Good one...when i lived in logan if a door would not close you parked the car in the front yard let the weeds grow around it and buy another car.(usually a commy or excel)

In the better suburbs that's a garden feature called a front yard chook pen.
Neighbour a few doors down across the road has a first gen in the front yard. It is jacked up so I assume it has a flat tyre. I was going to ask him how much he wanted for it, but never got around to it. Still there 12 years later. I think the rust and weeds are trying to engulf the thing. lol

Did it happen to have the rubber band part that I mentioned about? Haven't pulled a working one apart to see what it is like exactly.

No it was a black plastic "L" shape spring loaded lever that allows the jaw to close around the striker..It had broken off...I don't get why they use plastic parts in a metal casing.. the doors are held closed by a small plastic hook that could fail at any time....
