Hi,

I've had the ABS light come on intermittently on my 2002 Ralliart. It is now permanently on. On turning the key to ON, I can here the solenoids switching at the ABS unit (twice I think). I haven't noticed this before. If this problem is at the ABS control unit, does this have to be replaced as a whole unit? That is, is the solenoid module and the hydraulic module only available as a complete assembly?

It is going in for a timing belt this week so hopefully our mechanic has time to have a look at it. Hopefully it is something more simply like a wheel speed sensor.

Steve

I've cleaned the connector to the Bosch 5.3 modulator. Some of the pins looked a bit corroded. No light since. Fingers crossed.

its usually a rear wheel sensor that will create a issue , you best to get it hooked up to a code scan tool to see what parts it will be otherwise you will be spending alot of money you dont have to

Yes, good point. It is booked in for its timing belt next week so they will have a look at the same time. The light is back on. I did a diagnostic (pin 1 to earth) error 13 which is an open circuit error.

Very intermittent.

The first time the light came on was the day after I had to brake very quickly, thus activating the ABS. I think it was the first time it activated in the 5000km I have had the car.
