Ok, so we have a TJ wagon, only had it a few months and now we have an issue with the rear door latch. When locked its loose, and thus will not open. When then the car is unlocked, at any of of the doors, the larch gets a solid feel and will not depress, thus the door will not open. Anyone know what's going on? How to fix? My pregnant wife will be grateful for any advice given...

Do you mean the tailgate or one of the rear doors?

I mean the tail gate, the "5th" door.

Is the cable still attached to the locking mechonism on the tailgate itself?
Tho will be hard to get the cover off without opening the tailgate as the clips are around the sides
I'm not sure if theres a manual release anywhere around that area
Maybe have alook around and see if theres anything around there
Have you tried using your key?
