Hey guys, long time lurker first time poster!

The wife's ride is a mint 01 VRX (has the series 2 interior etc or whatever you call it) and it has finally just cracked 100k km. So I'm going to refresh the whole outside of the engine, after not long doing the 380 brake upgrade.

My question is, what sort of interchangeability is there with basic ignition parts and the like, with the equivalent aged Diamante in the US?

The reason I ask as I always buy parts for this kind of car stuff from the US. I'm a 4WD - Toyota man, had a blown 1UZ quad cam V8 4Runner, and I found I could save literally 50-75% on basic ignition and non bulky service parts etc by buying from USA (before the $ was so good too.) Most things are on par with the price difference from the states, so I figured the same can be said for the Magna gear.

For example, I've found a Bosch Distributor online here in Aus for $75 + delivery. Yet the cap to suit a 2001 3.5L Diamante, is $14.95 (genuine Bosch also, looks identical) in the US. Similar difference to Toyota pricing it seems.

However, I keep going in circles with cross referencing. I found a site (Wiki maybe) saying the Diamante is the 3.5L 6G74, but it mentions that it is a MIVEC? However the part in this case (dizzy cap) looks identical in the images.

So basically, what I'm wondering is if anyone knows what bits I can order for a what model 3.5L Diamante, to work on 01 TJ VRX? Tried searching here, via forum form and google, but haven't found a specific topic on this. I was just going to go for it, untill I read the MIVEC thing.

I'm talking about things like the following, that add up real quick when bought together at our inflated prices: Ignition - plugs, leads, rotor button, dizzy cap. Engine drive - timing belt, pulleys, idlers, water pump etc etc etc...

Any advice much appreciated.

ps... I took a stack of photo's of the 380 brake swap with the intentions of doing a DIY helper thread here, in return for the idea I originally found here. If it's wanted? Couldn't seem to find one...

the mivec motor was a jdm diamante, these are dohc and run a cop ignition. Us spec cars assembled in aus and exported are the same as adm models. Any jdm parts can fit aside from ignition and front suspension basically. The mivec motor was a 3l , there was a 3.5l mivec availible in the pajero evoloution.

I order engine bits for my 2001 TJ from rockauto.com in the USA by looking up parts for the 2001 Diamante. Things like platinum plugs, cam belts, full cam belt kit, ancillary belts can be landed here to your front door at half the price of the dealer prices.

At 100,000 Km you shouldn't need the full cam belt kit, just the belt and plugs if they haven't been done. $24 for a Gates or Dayco belt, $161 for a Dayco cam belt kit, including water pump, $2.40 each for NGK platinum plugs.
