Hi im new here got a 93 TR V6 with only a air filter mod atm... while reading up and learning about the 6g72 engine i discovered that the join from plenum to intake manifold has valves that open and close to direct the air via 2 passages depend on speed/rpm?... one loops under and thru and the other is straight thru. Does anyone know if this is just an economy thing or what it does?? and if i replace the plenum/intake will i need to change to after-market ecu or just dont connect the valve plug and let it think its opening or not and just get a straight thru intake/plenum?

Thanks.

It's called the VICS (Variable Intake Control System)

This system allows the air to run through the longer runners for more low rpm torque and the shorter ones for better torque in the high rpm.

As far as the aftermarket ecu is concerned I'm not sure whether it would operate the VICS or not.
