Hello again.

I've finally started piecing together how i'll go about the 380 install. I've been researching fm transmitters and apparently you can get some pretty decent ones these days, they plug straight in to the ciggy socket and have SD card slots to play mp3, as well as your standard AUX.

Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with them so I know which ones to stay away from and which ones to check out?

Something like this seems to come highly recommended on the intarwebz:

I'll then combine this with some sort of android/apple tablet for GPS/movies etc, but still to use the SD card slot for mp3's when a screen isn't needed.

Thoughts?

*EDIT*

Wow just found these, for $10 delivered sounds like its worth a look!:

Only issue is they don't seem to allow AUX in.

Haven't had much luck with the in car FM transmitters - poor sound quality, frequency drifting. Enough to put me off any input to a HU that is NOT wired in. Your mileage may vary. Just avoid a cheap one.

Perhaps you could look at FM Modulators. Much better results.
I have one here you can try, that can directly input an RCA input directly into the antenna cable.

I searched in Ebay for Modulators, and the Transmitters are listed as modulators, which they aren't.

If the 380 radio is RDS compatible, check this (http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_7-10301951-48.html).

Still a hit or miss proposition, it depends on how good the modulator is. Nothing beats direct input, AUX, USB, SD card slot.

Well the one I have fiited and used in a 380 gave very good results over a transmitter.

As for the Direct input being better........ Well Yeah!!!! TYCO.

The two FM transmitters I tried were painful to the point it wasn't worth listening to. One was on a iPod touch, so I couldn't blame the device. And don't call me Shirley!

Surely, you could tell us which ones you've tried so we can avoid them. :ninja:
I have a Belkin unit here, too. That was good transmitter.

To the OP, I'll have a look for the modulator around home, and flick it off in the post to you, if I can find it.

Mine were cheap eBay ones. Might have something to do with it! lol

Surely! lol GTFO!

Nah! My point was that you need to look for those features (AUX, USB, SD card etc) in a unit when buying one, much better than trying to add on later with an FM transmitter gadget. But you missed that point. Blame me for being too subtle! lol

That would be awesome, let me know how much you want for it or even a model/brand so I can find it myself.
