View Full Version : RPM drop when changing down gears - TS Auto

Sorry if this has been covered but I just spent 20 mins looking through the archive and couldn't find anything...

So yeah.. I've just noticed that when the transmission is gearing DOWN.. like when the car is slowing down.. theres a drop in the RPM as it changes then it jumps back up again.. Any advice please?? Cheers =)

torque converter is working ok
the auto should be serviced min once a year

this is normal
as you come up to lights or heavy traffic the auto kicks down ready
for the next gear to engage or back to first to go from a stop

if the motor stalls out thats a problem
if you get idle problems then its the idle speed controller needs replacing

Thanks man.. I think it's def the ISC.. Have had a few issues of late so I'll look into getting a replacement.. Looked up how to swap them ovr and it doesn't look to hard =) cheers

Have you cleaned the throttle body?
