the rear end of a 2nd gen has a 2 bolt strut top and the 3rd gen is a 3 bolt. The strut tops are the same physical size (OD) as each other. I want to know if the shock rod that has thebolt for the strut top on top of it is machines with a keyway that would suit the 2nd gen strut top. Effectively i want to pu a 2nd gen strut top on top of the 3rd gen suited strut.

Ultimately i can just drill out the shock mounting turret on the car to accept the 3 bolt strut top but due to aliggment issues thought i would see if i can change the strut top first which will orientate the shock body correctly to mount to the rear axle.

Jus tto update the thread and keep a record to add to this sites database of information....

Today i swapped the 2nd gen strut tops over to the 3rd gen coil overs i have. I used the much firmer bush from the coilover asesembly but a 2nd gen item could be used if its in good condition. This made fitting the coilover heaps easier.
