TS wagon, headliner drooping in several places.
I've redone headliners in several Mitsu cars in the past, by removing material and gluing on new material, but this one is sagging in the cardboard as well.
The car is 17 years old, not likely to be kept beyond 20 years, so rather than looking around for a good second gen wagon roof liner (not likely to find one) I've just used a staple gun on the drooping bits. Looks terrible, but works well. lol
Meh - its an old Magna, who cares? Looking for a 380 wagon to replace it - hang on, they don't exist. A late model third gen wagon then. lol
Anyway, if you are desperate with a 2nd gen headliner drooping, here's a quick fix. lol

yeah the good ol' staple job never goes astray. Makes an easy target for people to pick on though :( But I love my car so who gives a shit :D

The drooping heading liner seems worse in the 3rd gens then the 2nd gens, I have had 4 2nd gens and never had a problem with the headliner I now have a KH Verada and its sagging in spots, I think the 2nd gens are a better quality car then the 3rd gens, My two KR Veradas have been the most reliable cars I have ever owned.

Done a few myself in the past but you need the cardboard form to be in good condition. This one is sagging. There are metal bows reinforcing it in the wagon and they may have let go, but I've got other things to do so it can stay stapled for a while. I will get around to it, possibly, maybe . lol Costs less than $180 as a DIY exercise, time is the problem at the moment.
ahaha i just redid mine today, in fur :P although mines a sedan

Just a bit of fun, will probably change it later but cost about $70 total
I've seen so many 2nd and 3rd gens at the wreckers with a million thumbtacks in the roof haha

Hahaha the novelty factor of that fur is 'through the roof'. How long did that take you to do?
It really is ;)
To actually strip the old fabric, remove all the shitty foam and glue this stuff on probably took about a day, but i was being fairly anal about getting all the foam off haha so you could do it quicker i reckon.
But all up it would've taken me a good weekend to do, because i had to go to the wreckers to find another cardboard backing (mine was non-existent)
Plus you've got to remove the grab handles, sun visors, mirror, pillar covers, lights ect but that takes 5mins tops
I highly reccomend doing it though, its not that hard and you can get some sweet results for minimal cost :)

I relined the roof in my TH Sports today, it came up a treat. Cost less than 60 bucks, thanks to a sale at spotlight. Easy to do as well, I would save the difference between the money it costs to get it done professionally and to DIY it.

hey, I had an Idea, just got to look into the whole legal thing, but..... because mine drooped, I ripped it out and now have only that foam stuff that was under the cardboard left. What if one was to fiberglass the entire celing of the car? perhaps then coating it with an interior fabric? Ive looked up youtube on how to replace headliners (thats how i got the f*ing thing out of the car) and the fiber glass idea got me thinking that I could build custom map light, dvd player housing, tweeter mounts and even just decoration shapes to make it look really stunning in there. perhaps recessed handles instead of the crappy vinyl ones that come in the car. Im going to do it and I offer this idea to you and everyone with this problem. what y'all think?

Just remember you have to bend it just as much to get it back in as when you took it out as you add layers of fiberglass.

yeah, that flashed across my mind, and i thought, what about covering the interior with plastic and fiberglassing it while its inside?
lol have you ever fiberglassed upside down? Trust me its not fun, everything falls off. Your best bet is probably to have the windscreen removed to put it in, or do it in a wagon and go through the tailgate.

I've decided to do mine properly. The staples are pee-ing me off. But I will be doing it the old fashioned way, Spotlight material and contact adhesive, maybe some strengthening metal sheet on the back. Definitely no TIG welding involved. lol
