I was going to hijack the improving bass thread but thought this would be better on its own.

apart from that my amps high pass filter setup might be leaving my sound a little bare around 80-100hz which is obvious when listen to music with low tuned bass heavy guitars as the main instrument not coming through (this is because whatever noob installed it left it to play all feq's and I cooked one of my 6.5inch speakers coz I play lots of different music from extreme death metal to lady gaga and drum and bass with the latter have pounding bass or snare drums which killed it) so ive been a little scared to have them play a lower range of frequenzies (oh I had bass up on the headunit too, stupid me)

that and the magna door cars have a gap between them and the actual door speaker plastic box if you want an aftermarket cover on it.

so I thought firstly my option might be to remove the plastic crap and get a box to fit (never done this before) so that the lower frequencies can be stronger and that it can bring the speaker closer to the door.
or just get a round spacer to go inbetween the plastic and speaker to bring it forth and have the better looking speaker cover on it.
anyone know what is worth doing considering budget/sound/looks?? and other techniques eg sound deadening.
cheers

Sound deadening will improve mid bass response.

You'll need to do it properly for best results - clean the door skins, sound deaden the inner and outer door skin, cover up all service holes, tape up central locking rods, put some absorption material behind the woofer etc.

If you haven't already done so, also consider making an MDF spacer to improve the mounting surface of the woofer.

Thanks for advice, the very least I will be doing is the MDF spacer (so it fits up to the speaker grill also)

whats difference between inner door skin/outer? gone as far as taking off cards when I replace my speakers and seeing all this old plastic film stuff

The inner is the interior skin, the outer is the exterior skin.
BTW, the is a huge thread on this, just 3 pages back in the audio section.

Pretty much every thing you could think of about midbass in doors.

Check out my ride thread, its just below this message in my signature. There I show you how the door looks with dynamat sound deadener on it and what I did. Its well worth it as the doors become like a sealed box essentially and the mids really kick hard as a result.
