Anyone know where I can buy a pair of AWD front caliper kits? Apart from Genuine?
I'm in the Newcastle area. Local brake place where I bought the QFM pads doesn't have a listing for the calipers and the PBR book at Repco has the Fwd and Awd as having the same caliper. Had a bit of trouble convincing the bloke behind the counter that the book was wrong.
Mitsu spares in Newcastle (Klosters) price is around $40 each retail. This doesn't bother me but if I can get them cheaper form a brake place it would be good.

PM sent. BTW, is this for your AWD or a FWD?

A full set front and rear second hand with Ralliart/AWD twin piston calipers hoses and discs usually go for at least $500. They use a bigger front disc than FWD. Some people do split for the FWD owners wanting to do a front upgrade only but as the front set are worth a lot more and nobody is hunting just the rears, your usually looking at least $400 with good front discs. New just the discs are at least $142 each per disc for RDA (not original DBA) 24.0 mm thick new. Rear discs for Ralliart and AWD are same diameter, 20mm thick new but from memory have different rear hub set ups so AWD rear discs wont fit a std FWD.
The Ralliart Social Group Ralliart Specs thread states
http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=17
Brakes
Front Ventilated Discs = 294mm (18mm larger)
Rear Ventilated Discs = 284mm (26mm larger)
Front Calipers = Twin piston.
Rear Calipers = Single piston with a stronger calliper body
Front Pad Area = 26% increase
Rear Pad Area = 32% increase

Sorry everyone - re reading my original post, I now realise it could be read a couple of ways, so I'll re word it.
I have an Awd and I was looking for front caliper repair kits - ie seals. Sorry for any confusion.
As its turned out I ended up buying genuine at just under $40 each side.

Will you be doing the rebuild/reseal yourself?

Will you be doing the rebuild/reseal yourself? For sure, probably weekend after this one. I've been holding off until the pads are down but I reckon they would be getting close now. I really only have to do one caliper as it looks like one of the pistons is sticking a bit causing the pad on that side (piston side) to wear more on one end than the other. The other pad is fine as are both pads on the other caliper, but I figure since I'm going to put the effort in I really should do both. Not really looking forward to it as I'm getting over working on cars but I'm also tired of paying so called "expert" mechanics to do work and getting a crap job done. At least if I do it myself I know it will be done properly. Or if not I have only myself to blame. lol
