Hi everybody,

I am hoping someone can advise me on where I can pick up a replacement gear lever cover gor my manual TE. Preferably an after market replacement. The quality of the material used in the original is very poor. The thin layer of vinyl is pealing of all over the place and the whole thing just looks a mess. The magna is a great car in so many ways but the quality of some of the interor furnishings is pretty average. This includes the plastic around the interor door handles (both front ones have broken at the attacment point). The quality of the base model seat material is also poor. But all in all I have very few complaints.

yeh the black leather stuff started pealing off my gear stick soon after i bought my TE, so instead of it looking like a complete mess and having ppl comment about it i just ripped all the black off and left it all grey. Its stayed that way for nearly 2 years but i think its about time i went and bought a proper cover lol

Yeah, my gear stick boot was "malting" when I bought my car. Just popped into Super Cheap and grabbed a new black one. They have a few different colours including Blue, Yellow and Red. It was a bit tight getting it to fit over the bracket that holds it to the console, but we did it. Looks great too! I'm assuming it's made of vinyl, but I don't really care. And also, the one I bought is not lined or anything, so it's not going to "malt" like the standard one does.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Sounds like taking the route Damian has may be the go. Not keen on replacing with the mitsu item. By the way Damian, how does the after market item attach to just below the knob? Does it have a plastic collar like the original ? Or does the shape of it prevent it from collapsing?

Thanks
Nigel

I left the original plastic collar on there as the aftermarket item has a shoestring that ties the boot up to the knob, so I just tied it around the plastic collar. I think I only paid something like $15 for the black boot I bought. Looks like it belongs there, you can't even tell I replaced it.
