Hello all

I installed a LED bulb today to replace the existing one. It was a bit longer but the flexible metal holder helped fit it in nicely.

A problem I see currently is, the LED will be on a very very dim state when the car is off. In the past, this light was off but with the LED installed, it is on a low voltage state.

My question, is, will this affect the battery life? if I used the old bulb, does it use the same battery level? I am assuming that the filament bulbs have higher resistance and won't be visible as on but LED has less resistance and it can be seen as semi-on using the same voltage? or should I remove the LED as it will affect battery life?

Thank you

i have the same problem in my TH and no it wont effect your battery life i just leave it on its not that annoying, but if this does piss u off you can always buy a voltage reducer and install it in the interior light loom, and that will solve your problem

There is a voltage leakage somewhere, odds on its was always there, just you haven't/couldn't see it with a regular bulb. The more sensitive led makes it visible.
Mine is the same.

Not the cabin lights, but my parkers use to glow a bit when using the traditional bulbs, I can see the filament just orange but not enough to spread any light, only enough to see the filament was orange.

Ok, cool thanks everyone, doesn't bother me too much, just didn't want to explain to NRMA why they need to jump start my car haha :)

Thanks again, sleeping easy tonight!

According to the BEM pinout assignment, pin 6 which is for the cabin illumination states 0.1V for active and 13.9V for inactive (I know it sounds strange and should be the otherway around).

Do a search for the type I use. It was from Jaycar and came with proper sized adapter. It wa one of those square shaped pcb with lots of LEDs.

Interestingly, I bought a 2W B22 LED light bulb for the staircase landing at home. It also has a dim glow when off.

I just changed the one in the boot. I found that it flickers (in that dim on state) if the doors are unlocked. When the car is all locked up, it turns off. Interesting..... the way the Magna is circuited. Hope my LEds will last if it's going to be flickering sometimes :/
