Just chasing peoples opinions..

My brother has put a screw driver through my passengers side Dyn Driver, so I've pulled them out and given them to him and need something to replace them..

I was thinking of going Focal 165s.. But decided I dont wanna spend a heap..

Polk DB6501s..?

Infinity Kappa 607s..?

MTX MLK6500s..?

Any one had any experience with any of them or heard them..? I know the Infinity's carry great mids & vocals for that sort of money..

$150-200 for a front set of splits is the budget.. They'll be running off either an MB Quarts 2 x 125w amp OR Xtant 202M (Old School SQ Baby!)

I tried chasing up a few specs, and gave up after a while, I couldn't even find the splits on the MTX site.
I wanted to look at mounting options, i.e. Depth and Tweeter mount options of all 3 but there is like no Links...

I also wanted to look at the crossovers, particularly, quality, and - Db stepping for the tweeters, as the magna doors seem to eat midbass, and leave you nothing but scraps. Coz you may not be running a processor.
I couldn't see the 607's on the infinity site.
So yeah, I'm with Fooz......
Second choice is the polks, only coz I can't find info on anything else very easily. So basically this post is useless. lol

My car has a set of JL Audios. never had the brand before this car but ****! They are crystal clear! Will hopefully be able to share model number after the weekend as I need to take the door skins off and adjust the gains down a bit. They over-ride the rear speakers drastically and I need to balance the sound out a bit.

polks are great for their price, also have a look around for some FLI audio gear, their the budget model from VIBE audio and are great for their size, normally around the 160 mark but autobarn have them on sale atm ( at least where i live) for 120 a pair

Silly question but why not replace the Dyns with ... a set of Dyns?!

Is it budget that's the constraint? Because the Dyns are a pretty damn good audiophile grade speaker ...

For a $200 I think A decent set of Dyn's would be out of the question, hence why i will still suggest Mb Quart or Polk.

Just decided to go cheaper really.. dont wanna spend 1k on speakers.. when $200 will suffice for the amount i listen to them..

There's a few different pairs of dynaudio mids for sale on the MEA forums atm (MW160GT's, MW160mkII's, MW160's etc) For around $250-$300/pair
Atleast this way you could keep your old speakers! (Tweets I mean)

I might take another look on MEA..

If i can do that, I might as well put them back in..

I was just about to say that he doesn't need a new set of Dyn splits. He only needs one replacement midbass driver.

Even if replacing that single midbass driver was a bit over $200, I'd still go down that route for a far superior front stage set up compared to a $200 set of splits.
