Hey guys recently got more work done on my exhaust again, and got told to kill the annoying drone i would have to get a better resonator i really don't know why i took it off in the first place. "sigh" heard high flow resonators are the way to go? just looking for brands as im not familiar with any? and also looking at upgrading the catalytic converter as i heard if you get a high flow one it reduces fuel consumption? any help will be appreciated Cheers.

Get a high flow metal core cat converter. 100 cells per square inch (cpsi) is for track use (and may be illegal for road cars), but the 200cpsi is legal. Prices vary alot, so shop around and if you use an exhaust shop get them to itemize and quote all parts/labor separately before they install/weld it on. I sourced all my exhaust parts separately and just got the muffler shop to install them.

Can't help you with the resonator.

Forget the high flow cat unless yours has deteriorated, I'd be very doubtful of any significant improvement in fuel consumption, and most of what I've read about HFCs suggests they do SFA where you have an existing cat that is still in good condition (& I'm sure I'll be flamed for saying that). You will need a fairly large resonator to try to kill the drone, a small one won't help at all. From my own research, a louvered resonator is the best for these purposes... but may impact flow a little (but probably not enough that you'd notice it). Others may have different advice about this.

Question: what kind of fuel consumption are you getting now? What would you like it to be? I know I manage on average 11l/100km with a mix of open road & urban driving, and that's not necessarily driving with economy in mind. I think if you're getting anywhere between 10 and 12l/100km you are probably doing OK. If you're doing over 13L/100km you may want to investigate other causes. With extractors, you should've experienced improved economy anyways.

Any aftermarket resonators should be straight through unless factory replacment on some cars.
