Good morning all first time on here.
I have a Te V6 magna wag that backfires when the airflow meter is pluged in and have tried most thinks to fix the problem and they have not worked when i carry computer test with airflow meter conected there is no codes just code for airflow meter when not pluged in.
i have checked
plugs new
serviced injectors
new cap rotor and leads
new fuel and air filter
new exhaust system
old motor did 300 000 kms with no problems ( lump off wood came up and damaged timing cover taking out belt ) and this motor now fitted was 80kms complete unit and this is when all the problems started

have you tried a different afm?. there a couple of different part numbers so make sure you get the correct one of the engine light will come on or the car will run poorly. if your using the afm that came with you engine then it might be the wrong one for your ecu. afm do fail. i have replaced a few. usually around $55 from the wreckers

Hi vvrr44 thanks for your reply i have tried a different afm but still backfires when plugged in only, with it disconnected the car runs ok but engine light is on.
i have not changed the ecu, only the motor when timing belt let go is it possible that one off the another engine sensor's is causing the afm to read incorrectly and not showing up on a ECU
test (im using a snap-on tester to get the codes out of it)??????????????????????

Thanks again Singo
