I want to buy a TJ1 and swap my wreck TLs engine into it as its engine has problems. So with a swap from a TL to a TJ1, do I need to change anything to do it (like computers etc.)? Thanks

Its a motor....so it will be a straight swap.....the motor swap you are doing has nothing to with computer etc.....take out old motor....put in new motor...not really that hard , it is all mechanically the same.

Yeah cool, cause I was just thinking it might be different because the TJ1 has 150kw and 300nm whereas the TL engine has 155kw and 316nm but I think that's only because the TL engine has the better cams. I don't think that the computer would be any different because of the output differences would it? Oh and I will be doing a full swap of the engine and transaxle complete and the TL is tiptronic and the TJ is not but all 3.5 4 speeds hav the same gearboxes, right?

If it helps, I have a TW motor in my TJ (non-tiptronic) and it runs perfect and it has been for the last 2 years.
