My LPG has stopped working entirely. The car works fine on petrol but switch it over and it dies. I'm really not that familiar with LPG systems so was wondering if I could have some diagnostic help.
Thank you
Steve
It could be a million things. We need to know more about your system. All LPG tanks have a solenoid valve on them which is supposed to open when the car is switched to gas. If it doesn't. no gas... Does the car die suddenly or does it struggle and gasp and then die? If it tries to go, you probably have gas getting to the converter. The LPG system probably has its own computer. That may be dead. If in doubt, take the car to a gas mechanic to check it out. it is a very wide range of potential failures to diagnose.

If I can't solve it myself, i will take it to a mechanic. I would like to try myself first though as budgets are tight these days.
It's like the gas is not getting through at all. The solenoid could be a starting point. Where is it located?

It is illegal for someone that is not qualified to work on car LPG systems, best bet is to take it to a gas man, I had a EF falcon done a few days ago for $80 for a full tune and new diafram in the converter, and goes alot better than what it did
Personally I won't touch a gas system that as mechanic has done, only time I have was to replace the hose from the filter box to the diafram on the side of the converter
FourandTwo:
The solenoid is located as part of the isolating valve in the box on the side of the gas tank. You could pull the wires off it and get someone to switch overto gas and see if you get some voltage to it. As pwn3d_69er infers, it is potentially dangerous to meddle with LPG unless you are competent. CHecking for 12 v etc is OK because you are not opening the system for gas to leak. Once you start opening up pipes and converter etc, that is when you have to be careful.

Not sure where you are in NSW, but I have had mine tuned etc by "the gas man" in Alexandria and am very happy with their work

More information? Does it die immediately or does it splutter for a while, or does it even seem to be working then suddenly die after random amount of time (the last one happened to mine).
