I found a black leather steering wheel from a TJ solara at a wrecking yard, it's a bit rusty in the center and has a broken cruise control stalk. I have a few questions concerning installing this on my car.

1. Can I transfer the guts from my TE alerta wheel on to this one ? I'm guessing my cruise stalk and airbag would need to be swapped over. Any thing else?

2. Are the clock springs the same on both wheels? if not are they hard to swap over.

3. Any problems swapping over the air bag and older cruise stalk?

4. Will the rust in the center of the wheel have any effect on the airbag or other wheel options working?. Any good ways to get rid of the rust?

The parts you want to swap over should fit and be interchangeable.

Sweet, thanks. I'll investigate a price on it tomorrow. Then I'll have to find the right hex/security bit to get my airbag off.

Any idea on the rust?

If it surface rust should be able to get rid of it, with a wire brush and spray some sort of rust killer.

I figure it's just rust from being pulled and left sitting in a car without doors. I'll grab it if it's cheap enough, clean up the rust and treat it then see how she goes. The leather auto shifter is there as well but I can get the damn thing off.
